Sales Manager & Analyst, Control States

WhistlePig is seeking a sales manager and analyst to assist its sales team in managing control states. This position would provide support to the sales managers in listing new items, creating sales strategies, and implementing programming across control states. Additionally, the sales manager would be expected to travel to market to further support sales and brand promotion efforts on a consistent basis.

 

Scope of Responsibilities (in no particular order):

– Manage and organize permits and new product submissions in all control states

– Strategize and implement quarterly sales promotions throughout control state markets based on provided budgets

– Collect and analyze control state sales data, identifying new sales opportunities

– Provide input on new merchandising strategies for control state retailers

– Manage development and release of new control-state specific products

– Present products to an establish relationships with state control board members

– Provide support to salespeople on the ground and make regular sales trips to market

Location & Travel:

Position must be based in a control state with travel up to 20% of the time

 

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate is a college graduate with:

– At least 4 years of work experience with 2 years in beverage alcohol required, control state experience preferred

– Personable and outgoing; comfortable in new and unfamiliar environments

– Organized, creative, and highly motivated.

– Strong computer skills and extensive experience with excel and sales platforms

– Must excel at working independently with minimal oversight

– Able to maintain a high level of professionalism in social environments

– Passion and desire to be part of a young company

– Excellent writing and communication skills are a must

Trade Marketing Director

The Job:

The Trade Marketing Director will ensure gaining a disproportionate share of distributors, on/off-premise retailers, and bartenders attention.   This role will also lead our Direct to Consumer sales activities.

Scope of Responsibilities (in no particular order):

 

  • POS/Merchandising Development – Lead the development of all trade POS & merchandising. Develop ideas in concert with field sales, prioritize items, brief creative, establish quantities, deliver to purchasing.

 

  • Trade Program Development – Develop & execute programs to deliver against company goals. Goals likely include gaining in-store visibility, increasing on-premise consumption, and trial. However, may include other goals.

 

  • Sales Materials Development – Develop best-in-class sales materials. Identify needs through sales organization, brief content to designers, manage delivery to sales.

 

  • FarmStay Management – Manage FarmStay experience and booking (program for overnight immersive trade visits to our farm). Ensure allocations are being used and experience is exceeding expectations.

 

  • Sales Force Education & Tools – Ensure Stewards of the Brand are educated and have the tools necessary to be successful in market.

 

  • Ambassador Management– Act as point person for coordination of all field ambassadors, including but not limited to Dave Pickerell (Master Distiller) and Pete Lynch (Assistant Distiller).

 

  • NPD– Project manage the development of new WP products. This includes both beverage alcohol products & farm-based cocktail ingredients.

 

  • Trade Strategy – Work with sales organization and CMO to develop channel strategy, merchandising guidelines, and other trade strategy needs based on consumer insights & market intelligence.

 

  • Direct To Consumer Sales – Develop direct to consumer sales channels. Includes management of external ecomm partners, media partner selling events, HNW tastings, personalized products, consumer barrel sales events.

Location & Travel

Position will be based in New York City however will require approximately 40% travel (mostly headquarters in VT)

 

Candidate Profile

Base of Experience

  • Spirits Sales – Wine & Spirits Distributor or supplier-side sales an absolute must have. Ideally at least 4 years of experience dealing with both on & off-premise sales.  Experience with Duty Free & Military a plus.

 

  • Trade Marketing – Ideal candidate will also have at least 2 years of experience in spirits trade marketing. Specifically around channel strategy, merchandising strategy, program development / execution, and sales materials development.

 

  • Brand Management – While not a requirement, experience with brand management, media planning/buying, brand development and creative development a plus. Ideally for luxury brands and/or masculine brands.

 

  • Image-driven Brands – While not a requirement, Brand Development and Marketing experience in categories like Apparel/Footwear, Luxury Goods, Alcohol Beverage/Spirits, Entertainment, High-End Automotive, would be a relevant and significant asset for this Trade Marketing Director.

 

  • Analysis & Reporting –significant experience in analysis, ROI evaluation and management reporting. Experience with VIP a plus.
